Exciting changes ahead

Currently, we have a planning application in at South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) to build an 18-place classroom with toilet, store and office. If the application is successful, we will be able to look after our children within 4 age groups, This will allow us to better focus learning opportunities on the needs of the individual child. Our plans are for the classroom to go in the area to the front and side of the existing office and for the huge conifer trees to be felled.  For those who are interested in how it might look, please see the plans on display in the Reception area. If we get planning permission, we hope to have the room up-and-running for the Summer term.
An impression of the new classroom
A landscape designer is in the process of redesigning the back garden. She is turning it into an all-year-round outdoor classroom which will have many different learning activities for the children to develop their enquiring minds. A focal point will be a wildlife pond with pathways leading off into areas of discovery and learning. We passionately believe that children should be learning outside as much as possible and so want to make as many opportunities for learning outside as we possibly can. The summerhouse will be turned into  a scientific area, there will be an undercover art and craft area, the outdoor stage will be turned into a theatre, a sensory area will be further developed, there will be a ‘forest’ area, we  hope to have chickens and much more…

The final design will be displayed in the Reception area and we hope to begin making the changes this Spring.
